Why a Code of Professional Ethics?
Since the job title "interpreter" is not protected by internationl law, the quality in this market segment varies greatly. How can you be certain that the interpreters you hired really work accurately and reliably?
Professional interpreters with an internationally recognized degree in interpreting afford the quality you require and thus give you peace of mind. An additional seal of approval is membership in the International Association of Conference Interpreters (aiic) whose members all possess several years' working experience. A prerequiste for membership in aiic are high standards of professional practice which need to be borne out by several active members.
The interpreters of Language Professionals all abide by aiic's Code of Professional Ethics which as a code of conduct and honour aims to "[...] protect the interests of all parties involved in international conferences and above all to guarantee absolute respect for the strictest secrecy".
